Entourage crashes when toolbar icon button is used

My Entourage application crashes uniformly every time I am editing a
message by attempting to change the color of a selection or background
via the tool bar just above the message. More specifically, it crashes
when I press the font color and background icons, but not the
horizontal line, font, font size, bold, italic, underline, teletype,
paragraph formatting, paragraph numbering, paragraph bullets, or
indent icons.

The app then sends a report to Microsoft and restarts. Fortunately,
the message that was being worked upon is stored in the Draft folder
so all is not lost.

If I go to the formal menus (ie, Format>Font Color> Purple) and change
color, all is fine and works appropriately.

This issue began about a month ago. I can't think off hand about any
particular software upgrade that occurred at about the same time. I've
repaired permissions on my drive, and rebuilt the Entourage database
three times (by holding down the option key while starting up) with no
success.

Any suggestions or tips to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

OS 10.4.10. Entourage 2004 version 11.3.3. 1.6 GHz PPC G5.

First determine if it's a system wide problem or something in your User's
folder. Create a new test User in System Preferences. Move the message to
Shared so it can be access by the new User. Test to see if it happens there.
If yes, then it's system wide. If no, then it's something in your User's
folder.

Make sure that all of your software is up-to-date. The latest version of
Entourage/Office is 11.3.6.

In Office 2004, use Microsoft AutoUpdate to get the latest updates. From
any Office application, go to Help > Check for Updates (or manually launch
Microsoft AutoUpdate from the Applications folder). If any updates are
needed, they will display in a sheet, at which point you can check them and
press the "Install" button to download and install them.

Updates can also be found at the Microsoft web site:
<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx#Office2004>

I know that QuickTime has been implicated in problems using those specific
toolbar functions, so check Apple Software Update to make sure that you have
the latest version of QuickTime.

It's a well-known bug that should be corrected in the latest version of
Entourage.
