Entourage crashes with a certain subject line or email address

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange My Dad has a problem in that if he sends an email with the subject line HCMM, Entourage crashes. It doesn't matter to whom the email is being sent. He can email the same people without it crashing when using a different subject line. (The email is received successfully at the other end)

A client of his has the letters HCMM in their email address and Entourage also crashes whenever he emails them.

It is a very random problem but does anyone have any suggestions on what he can do? Are there any preference files he could delete which might clear the problem?

Thanks

I just tested and had no trouble. This must be specific to your dad¹s
computer.

Steps to help determine where the problem is located.

1) you can eliminate your Identity by creating a new Identity in Entourage
and see if you experience the same problem.

(remember when setting a test account to set "leave on server" for the
account under the Options tab)

2) if a new Identity still exhibits the same issues, then create a new User
in System Preferences and test the problem in a new Identity.

3) If the problems still exist in the new User, it's a problem with your
Office install or your base OS files.

I suspect you'll find it's either the Identity or a problem in the User's
folder.

If the problem is in your User's account, then log out/in with Shift key
down to disable any startup items. Test. If the problem still exists, it's
most likely a preference file that's corrupt.

Let me know what your testing shows.

Hi Diane and thanks for your post

Yes, when I created a new Identity this solved my problems (thank goodness)

Is it good housekeeping to delete the old identity?

Thanks

Alex
