Entourage Crashes With No Network Connection

Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I've been having the issue since I installed Entourage '08 shortly after it was released.

My MacBook is rarely without a network connection (so I rarely experience the issue), but occasionally I'm in a location with no connectivity, or where I need to turn off my Airport (wireless network adapter) to conserve battery. Any time my machine is in this state with no active network adapters, if I launch Entourage '08, it immediately (as soon as it tries to check for mail) crashes. If I lose all network connectivity while running Entourage, it will crash as soon as it automatically checks for new mail.

Possibly helpful information:
If I have an active Ethernet or Wifi connection with no DNS entries, it does not crash.
If I have an active Ethernet or Wifi connection with no DNS or default gateway, it does not crash.

I'm running the Entourage:2008 (12.1.2 (080729)) on a white Intel (C2D) MacBook with OS X 10.5.5. The only account associated with Entourage is my company's Exchange account.

Thanks,
Noel

I've had that as well and I don't believe there is anything you could do
to avoid it. Let's hope it'll be fixed in a future update.

I have also come across this problem and have found a work around. I wanted
to share this with everyone as this little problem has caused me much
headaches.

Entourage needs an active network connection otherwise it will crash. If you
install Parallels VM desktop software (you can install demo version and not
use it) the installer creates two network interfaces that are perminantly
online (for the VM guest NAT networking). These networks are preminantly
online so fool entourage, and prevents it from crashing.

Also prevents crashing when waking from sleep.
