I need your help/advice/savvy please.
This past Friday something very peculiar started happing. I normally use Firefox (2.x) as my Browser, Entourage as my mail service form my MSN accounts, and Word as my WP. The three programs are now VERY unstable and fail quite readily. This is what happens:
From either a power up or a restart, I am able to open any of the programs. For the sake of my discussion, I will detail first what happens with Entourage.
The top menu bar appears at the top of my monitor, Progress window, the mailboxes along the left, and the Main Identity displaying my emails in the balance of the screen. I can click on any of my emails, mailboxes, etc., read, reply, move, etc. then suddenly, "Poof," it's all gone with the exception of the menu bar. Gone! I can click on the menu items and get drop down menus, and even click on items (Shortcut keys as well) but there is no visual response other than just having the the tile and menu bar in the display. If I click on the Window menu, it will drop down and indicate what is supposed to be visible on my monitor, but there is nothing. Likewise, if I right click on the Entourage icon in the dock, it displays what is supposed to be open. I have not changed any preferences.
The same applies to Firefox. I'll be on a website, and, "Poof!" it's gone too. Same MO as Entourage with the Menu bar, and dock icon as well.
Likewise with Word.
The only way to view these programs is to power down and start up again, or restart, just to have them survive for only one to two minutes at a time. Thank goodness I have my Safari, but all of my passwords are stowed away in my Firefox preferences. I need them! I have not been successful configuring MSN's POP3 mailboxes on Mail's wizard, and it's all very frustrating. Please help!
BTW, I have run Norton antivirus scan on all files, and everything was negative. I have also done a data base rebuild on Entourage with no success.
F.Y.I. I do have a Time Capsule and run Time Machine on it.
