As I work in Entourage it crashing a couple of times a day, always in the
email operations, usualy when I am deleting. I have rebuilt my database and it
did not help. I rebooted my computer today and it said entourage could not
open my data and I needed to rebuild the d/b. but I ran the diagnostic and it
said the d/b was fine and then entourage seems to operate just fine-- I can
connect all of my calendar, emails, to-dos, etc. What do I do? This is a pain.
Many thanks to the community in advance.
1) Let's first check your hardware. See this page for help:
<
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/performance2.html>
If you have enough RAM and free space, go to step 2.
2) You might need to download the combo updater from Apple and run it again
rather than using Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files. Combo updaters will install on the same version as
they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.
Leopard:
Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update (For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )

After restarting test Entourage and see if the problems go away. If not, go
to step 3.
3) Test in a new User's account:
Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching.
Open Entourage in this new user.It will create a new blank Entourage
Identity. Enter your account info, but under the Options tab in the Account
window, set to "leave on server".
Try working in the new Identity, does it work? If yes, then let's bring
over your Identity from your regular User's account. Switch back and drag
your Main Identity to the Shared folder.
~/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2008 Identities/Main Identity
"/Users/Shared"
Switch to the new User and drag from Shared (it actually copies) your Main
Identity. I suggest renaming the test Identity to "Main Test Identity" so
your old Identity does not over write the new Identity with your account
info.
Under Entourage in the Menu bar select Switch Identity and select your Main
Identity. Does it work in the new User? If yes, then it's not your Identity.
The problem is in your User's account.

If it doesn't work in the new User, then it is your Identity. You will need
to export your data into a new Identity.
How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

Don't forget to drag back from Shared to your Microsoft User Data folder
after testing or Entourage will open in a new blank Identity.
Let me know what you find.
