Entourage Data

This is what happens when I try to open Entourage.
Please help.
Entourage cannot access your data.
to attempt to fix the problem rebuild your database.
then 2 choices.
1) Typical rebuild.

2) Advanced rebuild.
Then the following message:
Compacting failed a read/write error has occurred (-40)

Hardware Error:

Error -40 is a positioning error (tried to position before start of file).
This might indicate file system corruption. Try running Apple's Disk
Utility: First Aid and repairing the disk till it shows clean.

Hardware issues are serious. Complete data loss could be possible.
