Entourage database& rebuild oddities.....

Trying to rebuild the database. The option for a typical or advanced
rebuild comes up for a few seconds....and then the dreaded error
message appears 'Entourage unexpectedly quit....other programs and
applications not affected).

Otherwise, Entourage works fine (for quite some time). Just trying
to compact the database.

I've updated to 10.1.6 (today).

Mac G4/1.25mhz, OS is 10.2.8. 1.5gig ram. 6gb hard drive space
free.

Database file is 706.6mb....which I notice has not changed in quite some
time. The time/date stamp changes....but not the size.

I have rebuilt it before (usually monthly) with no problems.

Have tried making a copy, and then using it.

Other info needed?

Ideas?

Try to trash the preferences file located in HD:User home folder:Libraryreferences:Microsoft:Entourage Preferences.
Ensure Entourage is quit before you try this option.

Also you can try creating a new identity and move all your mails from the Old identity to New identity.

Then try rebuilding the Database.
