Entourage Deleted Messages

Messages I delete from my POP account are not deleted from the Inbox. To delete the messages from the Inbox I have to highlight them and delete them separately. This was not a problem with Office 2004.

I'm a little confused by your problem.

If you're deleting them from your Inbox then is that not the same as
deleting them from your POP account?

Can you provide step-by-step instructions for what you're doing and
explain what you expect to happen?

Sorry I was not clear. I'll try to explain. Messages are received to both the "Inbox" under "On My Computer" and to a mail account identified as "My Mail" lower down the pane between address book and Microsoft News Server. Typically I will read mail from "My Mail" account. When I delete a message there it remains in the "In Box"(on my computer). When I mark the message to be deleted the red X shows next to the message in both folders but after it is deleted from My Mail the X is gone and the message remains in "In Box". If I remove the message first from "inBox" it remains in "My Mail". I would like to see the messages deleted from both locations at the same time.

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

My guess is your rule could be moving a copy of the message. Check your
rule.

I can only think of two reasons why you would be seeing your mail in two
places:

1. You are connected twice to your account -- once as POP and the other
as IMAP.

2. You have enabled "Allow online access (shows account in folder list)"
within your POP account's settings under the Options tab.

Have you done either of these? Knowing this would go a long way toward
offering ideas.

Thanks!

Allow on line access is enabled. I don't recall enabling it but when I disable it the account "My Mail" is removed from the list. Not sure this is a problem since I can read mail from the "InBox" and currently I am the only user accessing their mail through Entourage on this computer. I understood the accounts feature would allow more than one user to access their mail account through Entourage. If I set up another account with a different address would their mail show in the "inBox: folder also?

Thanks for your help.

Allowing "Online Access" is a way to look at what's on the server. It's not
meant to be used as a daily way to manage your mail. It's useful for
deleting bad messages that won't download saving you from logging into your
account via your browser.

Depending on your schedule to download, you can compare the Inbox with the
online folder. You'll see messages in the online folder that have not been
downloaded to your Inbox.

If they are POP accounts, yes.

Hope this helps!

Forgot to mention. If you select delete from the online access view and you
haven't downloaded to your computer, the message will not be available to
download.

Thanks Diane. The information you provided has been helpful. The problem of how to avoid having to delete messages from both the inBox" and "MyMail" remains but I do understand more about how Entourage operates and this may help me devise a solution.

The solution is to turn off online access and only use it to troubleshoot.
If you want to view just email for one account, create a rule.

If in account A

Move to folder (that you create) xxxx
