Help. Entourage '08 deletes exchange account when I restart the computer. It has happened twice in the last week and I have to re-add the account and wait for it to update each time. This is occurring on a new MacBook Pro running Leopard and Office 2008.

The strange thing is that I also have an iMac (at home) running same software and accessing the same exchange account that this is not occurring on. Could it be the MBP or the fact that multiple Macs are accessing the same exchange account or perhaps there is a setting I've missed somewhere?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Alex!

Entourage can't delete your message store but it can possibly "forget"
where it was pointed.

Use Entourage menu --> Switch Identity... to see if you have another
identity. Select it and see if your messages reappear.

Be sure to properly quit Entourage so that it saves the preference for
your working identity.

Hope this helps!

I am having the same issue. I only have one identity set up yet for some reason it wont save my settings, pop, or Imap accounts for more than a short time. When I restart it after a few hours its like I have never set anything up. This is a problem because I have lost all my messages from my imap accounts that I set up.

I figured out why it was doing it, on my machine anyway. In the new OS there is a documents folder on the dock, and in that is the Microsoft data folder. What I was doing was clearing the doc folder out and by doing so it was erasing the Microsoft data folder that had my data for Entourage in it. Thanks for making me think about what I was doing and giving me insite.

Woah! So I just booted up my Macbook after a week of being on vacation, and my entourage 2004 account has completely reset itself!

Everything's blank. It has no record of any of my e-mails, or anything, and I've tried switching identities as suggested above. It has asked me to enter my account information, as it did the first time I booted up this computer in 2005.

I'm freaking a bit because this is my personal AND work computer, and I had about 3 years of e-mails filed away in this account that my company server doesn't archive, so I'm itching to get it back.

Help help help!

Usually, this is user error. Did you search for these terms: Microsoft User
Data folder, Office 2004 Identities, Main Identity?

Do you have virus software? Sometimes your database can be quarantined.

Have you restarted? Did you check the trash?

Since this is an Exchange account, your messages should still be on the
server unless something happened to the server. Have you checked there to
see what's on the server?

I just had exactly the same problem. Account, folders, subfolders are all deleted. Help please.
