Hi there...

Can somebody help me please. When I'm working on my mails in Entourage, and want to add new words to the dictionary, which are highlighted during a spell check, I click on the 'add' button, but nothing happens. If there are other similar words in the rest of the mail, they keep showing up as mis-spellings because the new words are not getting added to the dictionary.

Is my dictionary full to the brim with capacity, or has something got turned on or off accidentally!! Strangely enough, I'm not encountering this problem when working in Office Word - only when I'm using the Entourage application.

Hope someone will have a solution for me!!

Entourage uses the Office custom dictionaries, but it can only use the top
one.

Hi Diane....

Thanks for replying to my query. The Office custom dictionary settings you've mentioned are set up as they should be.

But I have noticed that Entourage is using the Office custom dictionary from another of the users on my computer. I have a feeling this is the root cause of my problem. Maybe I need to delete the other users??

What do you think??

First let's be sure we are speaking the same language...

An identity is a complete personality of Entourage, containing (preferences,
account settings. A User is a term used by the Mac OS. The terms Identity
and User are often confused. Entourage stores your data in an Identity, and
the Mac OS creates Users.

I'm guessing you mean other Identities as I don't see how Entourage could
use another User's preferences.

Did you perhaps upgrade from an older version of Office to Office 2008?
There are some slight differences in the way Office stores the preferences
in Office 2008. It could be you are pointing to the old dictionary file. It
shows the path when you select the dictionary in preferences.

In Office 2008 your dictionary file should be here:

"YOUR USER/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Custom Dictionary"

If you have a dictionary file outside the Office 2008 folder above, then you
can move it inside or copy the contents from one file to the other. They are
text files so it's easy to open and see what's what.
