Entourage does not download certain emails

I have a very strange problem. Today I got an (important) email, but Entourage does not download it. I only realized later that my iPod touch showed that message, as well as my work laptop (Vista, Outlook). Webmail of course also displayed the mail.
This seems to be a problem with the sender's email address, since 1) another email by the same sender didn't get downloaded, 2) my reply (written on the iPod) didn't get synched, and 3) even when I forward an offending message to myself, deleting all the text this mail isn't downloaded either.

What's wrong here?

Hi Paul!

What exactly about the sender's E-mail address appears to be wrong? Do
all messages from this sender behave the same way?

Bill,
Well, I can't really tell. The email address looks like a standard one from our organization; only in the sender's name (in clear, not the email adress) there's an unusual dot after the first name.
So far, I've only received 2 mails from her, I've sent two replies and I've forwarded one of her messages to myself, having deleted all the text. All these messages are not synched to Entourage, but they show up in Outlook, iPod, Webmail. Clearing the cache in Entourage didn't work.

Hi Paul!

Can you provide an example?

Standard E-mail format for name and address would look like:

John Doe <[email protected]>

What do you see?

If you look at the source of one of the E-mail messages (or look in the
"headers") then you should see something like:

From: John Doe <[email protected]>

Do you see something like that?
