entourage e-mail password problem

Hi, My wife has a mac os x, with entourage '04..after an auto update,
which said something about "your settings may be changed" [she can't
remember exactly] but she had no other way out so she clicked OK , and
now she can't send / recieve e-mails, it asks for account ID & pass
word, she tried to use all the passwords she can remember= no luck,
then called comcast and they gave her a new one , which didn't work,
and they said they don't support entourage and to call micro soft,
they won't help unless we pay for a new apple care prog. so I'm hoping
there is an easy fix for this, she CAN access her e-mail on the
comcast website, and she can access entourage to look at her old e-
mails, so I assume she needs to re-set the pass word? we tried to find
it in the keey chain but only saw the ones that she tried and don't
work and also the one that comcast gave us.any help would be
appreciated... I'm not familiar with macs, so tawk to me like i'm a 3
yr old.....

It's possible the new password Comcast set up is not working. Comcast has
been known to make mistakes.

I suggest going into your Keychain and deleting both old and new passwords
for the account. Next delete the account in Entourage and create a new
account from scratch.

If it doesn't work, install tcpflow. It monitors the traffic between
Entourage and Comcast. It should tell you if the password is failing. You
can then call Comcast and tell them the new password is not working.

See directions here:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/tcpflow.html>

Use these "really short directions"

At the bottom of the page is an example of traffic. You'll see the user name
given and password with the server responding with OK. If it's not OK, then
you would get an error message after asking for password.
