Entourage emails in folders disappear monthly

Three months I started doing contract work for a company that has an exchange server. I use Entourage for that company only. Email comes into the inbox on that server, and since they have limited the inbox size for each employee, they said to either 1)move emails into folders "on my computer" or 2)delete them if I don't need them, so my inbox doesn't get full (I got that message after about a month).

On or around June 10th, I noticed I lost a bunch of emails. At this time I hadn't created the folders On My Computer, and since I had also received a message saying my company Inbox was getting full, I assumed they had been deleted from their server.

On July 10th, all of the emails in the folders I created On My Computer disappeared (the folders remain, there's just nothing in them). Since I knew I moved them from the company server and onto my computer, I did a search for keywords that were in those emails. I found them all in the library/caches/metadata/microsoft/entourage yada yada. They all have file names like 3000.vRge08Message.

I don't recall selecting an option to have all my emails cached somewhere.

What can I do to keep those emails in my Entourage folders? Please help before August 9th!! Thank you!

On July 10th, all of the emails in the folders I created On My
Computer disappeared (the folders remain, there's just nothing in
them). Since I knew I moved them from the company server and onto my
computer, I did a search for keywords that were in those emails. I
found them all in the library/caches/metadata/microsoft/entourage
yada yada. They all have file names like 3000.vRge08Message.

These files are not your actual messages. They are cache files generated
by Entourage for Spotlight indexing.

If your messages are gone from the folders On My Computer in Entourage
then I suspect you may have done one of a few things.

1. You may have moved or trashed your Microsoft User Data folder out of
the one location Entourage looks for your data, which is in the
Documents folder inside your home folder.

2. You may have manually deleted the messages from the folders On My
Computer.

3. You may have switched your Entourage identity and created a new one.
Check for another identity under Entourage menu --> Switch Identity...

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply, Bill.
I have done none of those three things. The messages were in my folders one hour, the next they were all gone. Something happened on its own to remove all those messages from those folders. And seeing that this has happened three times on or about the same day of the month, I suspect its something that's automated.

If one of these things happened on its own - without me doing it - I need to figure out how to stop it from happening again. Like I said, it happens monthly.

Does anyone have any idea what's happening? If not, I may have to just drop Entourage altogether in favor of a different program. I wouldn't want to do that

Check your Schedules. Open Schedules under Tools. Be sure to check server
rules and schedules.

I have no Rules. I have three Schedules - "empty deleted items folder" and "send all" and those are enabled. "send and receive all" is not enabled.

I've been putting all of my emails into folders that are now in the Inbox portion of On My Computer. We'll see what happens come August 9th, which is when I suspect the emails will disappear if they are going to do so.

If anyone has any other suggestions of actions I could take, that's be awesome and greatly appreciated.

Did you check for rules or schedules that might be running from your server.
