hello,
Yesterday, I had to reformat an eMac because of disk problems. After
reinstalling Entourage (Mac OS 9.2.2), I've discovered that I can
receive email, but not send. When sending, an error message appears
that says"... The server did not recognize the recipients or the
server refused to allow you to send email. Explanation: no local host
elac.edu, not a gateway. Error: 5550". I matched the account
information from what was there last week. I get this same message
whether I turn SMTP authentication on or off.
Oddly, this eMac was sending and receiving with no trouble before the
reformatting and reinstallation. Other Macs using Entourage to reach
their email accounts at the same ISP have no trouble sending or
receiving.
We connect to the internet using a shared DSL line. Does anyone know
if there are problems caused by DSL that might cause this Entourage
5550 error to appear?
Thanks,
Roberto Chavez
