Entourage error message

I recently purchased a MacBook and the fine folks at the Apple Store
transfered all of my old applications and files from my powerbook to
my MB.
Everything is working, except for Entourage. When I try to open it, I
get this error message.

The application "Entourage" could not be launched because of a shared
library error: "<Microsoft Entourage><StuffItEngineSDKLib><><>"

I have tried re-installing Entourage but this did not work. I'd
appreciate any and all tips on how to fix.

If you receive a framework error, re-apply recent updates. A framework error
normally means one or more components of Office have not been updated
correctly and are now out of synch with other bits.

normally means one or more components of Office have not been updated
correctly and are now out of synch with other bits.

Thanks Diane. I did try this, and in fact I just got notified of a new
update this morning, which I did apply, and I still can't open
Entourage and get the same error message :-(

Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or
If it's your User's folder that contains the problem.

If Entourage opens in the new user then go to Step 1. If Entourage does not
open then go to Step 2. I'm suspecting you'll go to step 2.

Step 1:

1. Check for Duplicate Microsoft Database daemon in startup items.
2. Hold shift key down when starting Entourage. This disables schedules.
3. Check for third party conflicts: Haxies can cause problems.
4. Check for a corrupt preference.

Step 2. We're going to take two prong approach....Your OS and Office
installs.

Run the Combo Updater from Apple. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files.

Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update (PPC)

Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update (Intel)

Use "Remove Office" then install all Office applications from the CD. UPDATE
before opening. You will need your CD key!!!!!

Diane, you are AMAZING! Unfortunately, and I do not blame you at all,
none of these suggestions worked :-(

I am resigning myself to just using iCal, Mail and Address Book.
