Entourage EWS and Exchange offline mail access

Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Good job with Entourage EwS. Finally getting mail other than via Parallels and Outlook 2007. One relatively small thing...With Outlook I can get Exchange 2007 Email at home or away without VPN access. With Entourage I can only get it when directly connected to the Exchange at work. No connection from home. Haven't worked out how to use VPN on the Mac yet so only ways to get mail at home is the awful Outlook Web Access (on safari...not fun), or to boot back into Windows and use Outlook. Is this just some setting that I haven't seen yet or is this not going to work with Entourage EWS? Many thanks

Use the OWA URL rather than the server address. See

This link is ok for Entourage not for entourage EWS.
The problem is something else.

Thanks for the help Adam. Unfortunately I have tried this, both with standard Entourage and EWS. Our IT helpdesk has tried all combinations of names we can think of and the best we get is connection with no email and no folders, within the walls only. No connection at home. Even using the same addresses as with Outlook, that we know work, still nothing goes. The EWS setup installed the address as an <https://..../EWS/Exchange.asmx> address. This works well within the organisation, but only there. Our webmail addresses (owa....co.nz/owa or <http://owa.../owa> or <https://owa....)> do not work either in our outside with Entourage or EWS.

Same issue.

Entourage EWS always set the exchange address to
<https://autodiscover.domain.com/ews/Exchange.asmx>

even if you try to change to your OWA address.

When you are in home try to set Entourage to get "headers only" and see if you get them.

Yes I think you are correct Massimo. I did try to set headers only and it has made no difference. Manually changing exchange addresses as above makes no difference. It just won't connect at home. I think that this has to be either a missing feature or a bug. Pity, because until Outlook comes next year this is probably my best chance to use a Mac. Maybe Snow Leopard next week will make a difference, and maybe Mac Mail will be the way to go from home. Here is hoping

Thank you for answering Diane. Sadly, as above, we have already done all this. My IT dept have also gone over it. This may work for older Entourage versions but it does not appear to work for EWS.

Entourage is designed to work remotely from an Exchange server. That
it's not working for you suggests a configuration problem on the
server. Unfortunately, Exchange can be a very complex beast, and it's
not always easy to figure these things out on the server-level. If you
have a cooperative IT department, have them contact their Microsoft
support provider.

If you
have a cooperative IT department, have them contact their Microsoft
support provider.

Companies and universities commonly have support contracts. If they're on a
supported version of Exchange (2007SP1RU4 or higher), Microsoft support is
appropriate for an issue like this.
