Entourage EWS and no public folders anymore

Just upgraded to Entourage EWS from 2008 version, and now I lose all ability
to access public folders.
I know that there is no option to input public folder address, since it
'presumably' uses autodiscovery, but I'm still hoping there is some solution.

I was told that if the public folders are hosted on a exchange 2003 server
(while the mail is hosted on exchange 2007), it won't work.

there has to be an easier way than reinstalling the whole office, just to
get public folder access back..

If your public folders servers is on an Exchange Server 2003 system then
you probably cannot access them. Exchange Web Services (EWS) and WebDAV
are two different protocols and they are not interchangeable. Exchange
Server 2003 does not understand Entourage's EWS protocol and Entourage
EWS does not understand Exchange Server 2003's WebDAV protocol.

Hope this helps!

Bill is right. Public folders hosted on an Exchange 2007 server are
still accessible (even though the use of public folders has now been
deprecated). however, Entourage EWS cannot communicate at all with an
Exchange 2003 server, so any folders or mail stores on those servers
will nto be accessible.

It was confirmed to me by the IT dept that the public folders are indeed
hosted on a Exchange 2007 server.
- I still don't know what else I can do to help fix this problem, since
there is no place to enter in the server info for public folders..

any suggestions?

Also, if all else fails, what is the best way to reinstall the previous
version of Entourage, without losing any data/settings on all my office
applications?

Hi Mike,

OK, if the Public Folders are stored on an exchange 2007 server, they
should be accessible. Mine are, using Standard Entourage or EWS on
Leopard or Snow Leopard.

First, Lets just make sure you are looking in the right place. i don't
mean to be patronising, but it is better to check the 'obvious' things
first.

Look down at the bottom of the folder listing for the exchange account
in the left hand pane in the Mail view - there should be an entry for
'Public Folders. Expand this entry and there should be two sub-folders:
"Subscribed Public Folders" and "All Public Folders". All the available
public folders should be present in the second of these.

Do you get all that? If not, do you at least see the top level 'Public
Folders' entry?

Hi Barry,

I assume what you are describing is exactly what I used to see in the
previous Entourage version. Public Folders listed in the folder list.
Here I do not see any public folders.

It is accessible in previous version of entourage (on another mac), and
using OWA.. just can't get it to show on EWS
