Entourage Fails to Start - Spinning Beachball - Error: -17598

My wife uses (should say 'used') Entourage 2004 for access to her hotmail account. This was unusual in as much as she has never had a hotmail plus account but it has always worked.

A few days ago she was trying to attach some pictures via iPhoto when she received some sort of error (17598) and Entourage was asking for some kind of password confirmation.

Since then the application has been 'hosed'! It fails to start and just sits at a spinning beachball and never gets past this (I shoud say that the main application window after the spash screen comes up, but it then sits there at the beachball)

I've tried verifying and rebuilding the database, in the first instance Entourage reports that the database is fine and working correctly.

In the first instance I'd like to know if there are any .plist files I can trash and secondly, if I have to reinstall, can I do this from the OFfice2004 disc (i.e. can I re-install just entourage or will I have to reinstall Excel, Word, etc. as well!?)

Thanks for any help!!

Old accounts were grandfathered in.

Could be the Keychain has a problem. Run Keychain First Aid.

See this page for help with crashes:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/troubleshoot/crashes.html>

Log out/in and hold down Shift key. This will disable any schedules that are
trying to send mail. This allows Entourage to launch without crashing in
situations like this. Open your Outbox and delete the message.

Usually re-installing does not help. You could try a custom install, but
it's best to use "Remove Office" and install from CD THEN update. IMPORTANT!
