Entourage freezing after 12.1.4 update

I have been having trouble with Entourage freezing mid-session (not during any specific function or action) since downloading the 12.1.4 update. I have tried to force quit and restart--it freezes upon openning. I tried to restart the machine--still freezes upon opening. I've left it open now to see if it will resolve on its own, but 30min later, it's still frozen.
I use a hotmail account and a non-exchange webmail account.
Any thoughts?!

Do you have Entourage set to launch at login? If yes, disable for now.

Log out/in with Shift Key down. Now try to launch Entourage. Does it still
freeze? If no, it's a conflict with a startup itme. If yes, then hold the
shift key down when launching Entourage. Does that work? If yes, then it's a
bad message in the outbox that Entourage is trying to send. If there are no
messages in the outbox, then it's an incoming message.

You could then turn off Preview Pane and check the server looking for the
suspect message. Usually it's a spam message and one of the older messages.

If you have POP accounts, you'd do it by using your Webmail account or use
Allow Online Access in the Options window of the account settings. Next,
select the server icon now appearing in the Folders List and turn off
Preview Pane.

If IMAP, Exchange or Hotmail just check your Inbox and folders affected with
Preview Pane turned off.

Delete the message (which actually marks it for Deletion from the server),
connect to the server (Send & Receive All).

Thanks, Diane! I was able to open Entourage with a different profile. On your advice, I was able to open Entourage while holding Shift and it didn't freeze. Looks like it was a bad message in my outbox from my Hotmail acct--weird, since i've forwarded messages from this newsletter before without incident...
Can you please explain what holding Shift does when launching for future reference?

reference?

Logging into a User with Shift key down disables all startup items. Holding
Shift key down when launching Entourage disables all schedules for Send &
Receive.

The fact that this started about the same time as the update just confused
the matter. A good place to start troubleshooting is this page:

Wel i finnally got it to work. I tried for over an hour now and i have finally got Entourage 2008 to work. It has been about a year sense i have been able to use it. It has never worked. What i had to do was from the out box i moved it to the delete box. And then it worked. Then i could not get it to delete. It keep freezing about 1 second before i could finished deleting it. So then i deleted another file and used that one to move it with. I learned a lot from this believe me i did. ROBERT HODSON

Good move on deleting the problem message. Let's hope things go a bit more
smoothly now.

Hello Diane

after I down loaded the upgrade the inbox and sent items would not open and a message appeared saying not enough memory.
I can find the messages that came elsewhere by using the advance search.
Would really like my normal inbox/sent items functioning again, any suggestions?

Is this a new problem? If yes, please start your own thread and give all the
details.

When asking a question please include which machine you're running and which
version of OS X, as certain answers will vary between different Macs and
Tiger vs. Leopard, etc.

We also need to know what version of Entourage you are using including any
updates.
