entourage & gmail

I just created a gmail account and an account in entourage, but the
gmail account has no sub-folders like my roadrunner and hotmail
accounts (sent, deleted items, etc).

the real problem is that when e-mail comes in from gmail, it goes to
that folder but then is automatically transfered to my rr inbox. sent
meassages from gmail (which i can send via entourage) go there too.

how can i fix this?

thanks.

Gmail offers POP3 service, which does not feature server-based folders. For
Gmail's folders to be available to you in Entourage, they would have to
support IMAP - which they do not
(http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=10339&topic=1556).

More information about the difference between POP3 and IMAP can be found at

If you intend to use Gmail primarily in Entourage, you should create local
folders and use Rules (Tools > Rules) to direct messages into folders
(http://www.entourage.mvps.org/get_started/folders.html)
accordingly. More information about Rules can be found at
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/rules/index.html>.

Since your question is specifically about Entourage, I've crossposted and
set followups to the Entourage newsgroup.
