We have had a few reports of this happening during an update....even a OS
update not Office where Entourage would go missing. You will need to install
Office from your install CD then update. It's important to update or your
Entourage Identity will NOT open. A change occurred in one of the earlier
updates to the database that requires the update to open.

You need to get these updaters:

11.3.5 combo
11.3.6 requires 11.3.5 to be installed
11.3.7 requires 11.3.6 to be installed

After you install from the CD, you can stuff or zip the folder. This way if
any of the applications disappear, you can just unstuff and try updating
again.

I suggest that before you update that you apply the latest Apple combo
updater for your computer. This will give you a good base on which to
install Office. I would also use "Remove Office" found the the Additional
Tools folder of Office 2004 before installing.

Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need
to roll back or do a clean install. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files.

I have re installed entourage and updated until the cows came home
however I now cannot get entourage to import my backed up identity.
When I go to import from an Entourage Archive I am either unable to
access Import, it remains grayed out after I select my identity or
when I tried importing from a program and am asked to select an
identity it tells me in the box : the following Microsoft Entourage X
identities were found in: /Users/imac/Documents/Microsoft User Data.
Select the identity you want to use for importing into Entourage 2004.
but then in the box to select from I am told: No Microsoft X
identities could be found. ??
Thank you

You can't import from the same version. Just drag over your Identity folder
to the new Microsoft User Data folder.

Move the entire identity folder you want to use to the Office Identities
folder inside your Microsoft User Data folder. Your identity is named "Main"
by default. Be sure to rename one so you do not overwrite. Your identity
folder can contain more than one identity. If you want to combine the new
mail with your original database, drag each folder to the desktop from one
identity. This creates an MBOX file. Switch identities. Drag the MBOX files
into the folder window of Entourage.

You can delete the old folder after you are satisfied with the transfer.
