Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop Moved to Office 2008 and use Entourage for email. Was crashing quite often, call Microsoft and rebuilt data base and then crashes weren't so often but still crashed a couple of times a day. Microsoft called and suggested uninstalling Office 2008 and then re-installing. I questioned them about losing data, said no problem. So I did and now it won't open at all, seems there's a data base problem. Spent a couple of hours on phone trying the changing Office 2008 Identities from Time Machine. Still won't open, wants to re-build the data base but it doesn't show up to re-build. Trying to move identity to an older g5 and see if that will work.
Assistance would be appreciated, lost data has all contacts and emails that I need for business.
Data seems to be there but just can't get at it 13.03g file for identity.

Did you try launching Entourage pressing the Option key down?? Does the
database Utility open then?

Rebuilding does not fix everything and sometimes can make it worse.
Generally when the database utility can't see an Identity it's a problem
with the file. Generally it means it's too corrupted to rebuild.

Time Machine backups are most likely corrupt.

Using Time Machine to backup Entourage basics:

It's advised by the developers not to let Time Machine backup your Entourage
database. If the database is copied while being used, the backup could be
corrupt. You can set the Time Machine to exclude the Microsoft User Data
folder and create an iCal event to copy it over at night while not in use so
you get one backup daily in Time Machine.
