Entourage "identity" issue

SandyR

Hi,
I hope that someone can help me with this problem. I found someone
else that had the same problem, but the solution listed is not working
for me.

I just uninstalled my "Test Drive for Mac 2004" and installed my
Office for Mac 2004

I cannot open my entourage (which has worked fine during the
test drive it comes up with a message saying "This identity cannot be
opened with this version
of entourage" I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Office and
also Entourage and the same error continues to happen.

I have the the Mac OS X version 10.4.10 on my Macbook Pro which is
new. I did not have this issue on my previous Mac book

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thank you
Sandy

Your test drive had been updated and your Entourage data was saved in a
newer format. Updating Office will fix the problem.
I cannot open my entourage (which has worked fine during the
test drive it comes up with a message saying "This identity cannot be
opened with this version
of entourage" I have tried to uninstall and reinstall Office and
also Entourage and the same error continues to happen.

"This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage"
This message usually means, for example, that Entourage is at 11.0, but the
saved database was saved in Entourage 11.3.6. Since there was a database
format change in there, Entourage 11.0 cannot open a database saved in
Entourage 11.3.6.

Download Office updates from Mactopia:

<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx>

The latest version is 11.3.6. You'll need the combo updater 11.3.5, then
update with 11.3.6.

I suggest creating an archive or stuff your Office folder. Then if something
goes wrong with the update, you can just unstuff and be back to original.

Tip: use Apple's combo updaters rather than using Software Update. Doing so
overwrites potentially problem-causing files. Combo updaters will install
on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean
install.

After installing the Apple combo updater, then try re-installing Office
updaters.

Hi,
I am confused.
The links you have at the bottom, they do not go to anything, says
link is not valid. Do I use both or just one then do I go back to the
steps above and down load the two office updates. Is this the order
or the order you put in your email.

I downloaded the PPC and the Intel installer and both say I cannot
install them on my computer as it does not meet the
requirements....what now?

I have a Macbook Pro Mac OSX Version 10.4.10

Hi,

You can ignore all of my messages. Since the combo's did not work I
went ahead and ran both of the office updates and my entourage opens
just fine now...thanks for your help and sorry for all of my messages.

I was glad to see in your other message that your problem was solved. I
would like to add a bit of info on your situation.

There are two combo updaters. One for the older PPC computers and the other
for the newer Intel machines. You only need the Intel installer.

I'm not sure what happened in your situation. Check your downloads to see
what version combo you downloaded. Was it perhaps an older combo?
