Somehow, my 2008 identity is no longer available to be opened. I just get a brand new account as if this was my first set up. How do I get 2008 to recognize the old identity? Thanks.

Usually this happens because the user has deleted or moved either the
Microsoft User Data folder from the Documents folder, or the Office 2008
Identities folder (or its contents) from the Microsoft User Data folder, so
Office created a new one when you launched Entourage (or another Office
app). If you have done this, find the moved or deleted folder (or a backup
copy of it) and put it back where it belongs, replacing the new one that
Office created.

Entourage looks for your identity to be saved in a folder called "Microsoft
User Data" which is located in your Documents folder in your home folder
(/Users/you/Documents). If this folder has been moved, Entourage will no
longer recognize your data. Simply moving it back should solve that.

If your Microsoft User Data folder is still there, open it up - do you see
your old Identity? If so, you can switch back to it by choosing Switch
Identity from the Entourage menu.

If you have used the new Identity and need to merge....

If you have not used a new identity in Entourage, then copy the entire
Microsoft User Data folder to the correct location.

Fix if you have more than one Microsoft User Data Folder...

Move the entire identity folder you want to use to the Office Identities
folder that Entourage is recognizing. Your identity is named "Main" by
default. Be sure to **rename** one so you do not overwrite. Your identity
folder can contain more than one identity. Switch Identities to view your
old mail.

If you have not used the new identity, delete it. If you have used it and
want to combine the new mail with your original database, drag each folder
to the desktop from one identity. This creates an MBOX file. Switch
identities. Drag the MBOX files into the folder window of Entourage.

You can delete the old folder after you are satisfied with the transfer.
