Entourage immediately moves messages to trash??

K

Whenever I get new messages into one of my IMAP accounts using latest
version of Entourage on OSX, the messages immediately get MOVED to the
trash. Anything going to my Inbox gets immediately moved to the trash--
PLEASE READ BEFORE RESPONDING--sorry for the caps, but I have already
done this troubleshooting:

1) I have turned off ALL Rules. So no Rules are being used in
Entourage and the issue persists
2) In Entourage I have deleted the IMAP account completely, then
created a new account, downloaded messages again and the problem
persists
3) I have created the same IMAP account in Apple Mail and it works
just fine there. Messages going to the Inbox stay there and aren't
immediately moved to the trash--so the issue is specific to Entourage
(no i don't want to use Apple Mail)
4) I have right-clicked the Inbox on the account and selected Repair
Message List to no avail.
5) I have two other IMAP accounts and an Exchange account in the same
profile--all of them continue to work great.

I'm lost as to what to try next. Any suggestions are greatly
appreciated. Thanks!

hi, i had the same problem, refer to my post later down the list which
says
"new to entourage, can't import .csv file, and all mail is junk "

the simple answer is, there are 3 types of rules in entourage, mlm,
junk mail filter and individual rules, in that order, go to tools/ mlm
and see your rules in there, apparently they are easily setup
incorrectly, i know i did!!!

hope this help

Did you check the Mailing List Manager (MLM) rules?

There are 3 different kind of rules in Entourage:

Mailing List Manager (MLM)
Junk Mail Filter
Rules (custom rules you create)

They run in this order. The custom rules also run in the order they are
listed. (top runs first)

Use the MLM for all lists. Use rules for the remainder. Try to use
categories instead of individual addresses when possible. When an address is
added assign a category then it will automatically be acted on by the rule.

1) POP Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the Inbox (On My
Computer), NOT when it arrives in any other folder. Once it's moved to
another folder it won't be seen by rules.

2) IMAP Rules are meant to act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in
the IMAP INBOX, not when moved to another IMAP folder.

3) Exchange Rules act on a message ONLY when it first arrives in the
Exchange Inbox.

See "Using Rules with Entourage" for help and examples:
