For a long time we have been strictly an open source shop, but last year we decided to go with exchange as our mail server. We are currently reviewing sharepoint because we see it as a one of a kind framework for collaboration and sharing. We are a mixed platform environment, 60% mac and 40% win.
It was difficult at first to get the Entourage clients to connect, but since we've been fairly happy with it. We've figured out how to share calendars, but unfortunately, the only calendar which can be shared is the main calendar of your Exchange account.
We have several situations in which one person must manage several accounts and others must be able to view add add these events to their calendars, but there does not seem to be any way to get these from our Outlook users to our Entourage users.
I thought this might be a good thing to host on Sharepoint, but those calendars are not accessible to Entourage users either. We went with Exchange/Outlook/Entourage because we hoped that the interoperability of a single company would be more successful than trying to piece together solutions from multiple vendors. It appears that we were wrong to think this and that we should reconsider before wrapping up any more money in microsoft products.
