Entourage is Free for use with Exchange..

I don¹t know if you guys know this, but the ownership of a Exchange Server
CAL, allows you to use Entourage for free....

Now I know this has always been the case with Outlook 2001 and 8.2.2 for Mac
and Outlook XXXX for Windows, but I was not sure for Entourage as the
support came late in the form of the update...
I contacted Microsoft Customer Services Corporate Licensing and I got this
back..

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear XXXX

Thank you for your question regarding the rights of use of Entourage with an
Exchange 2000 Client Access License.

As with Outlook 2001 for Mac OS 9 and Outlook 2002 for Windows, an Exchange
2000 Server Client Access License will entitle an organization to install
Entourage without the need to purchase a separate license for Entourage.

Please find below, an extract from one of our internal documents:
Exchange 2000 CAL Requirements

The Exchange 2000 CAL is required for each device accessing the server and
entitles access rights to all three editions of Exchange. Each Exchange 2000
CAL also includes user rights for Microsoft Outlook® and permits access from
Outlook Web Access or any standard Internet-messaging client.

You need to purchase an Exchange 2000 CAL for each device accessing the
server running Exchange 2000.

Enterprise Server (incl. 25 CALs) This bundle of a server license and 25
Exchange 2000 CALs is available only through retail channels.

Exchange Software – Other Uses

ASP

hosted exchange server. Customers should contact the specific ASP for
further details.

So basicly if you have 25 cals on your server and 25 users all running
Entourage X then you only have to buy is 1 Entourage media disk for about
£25 (for MLP etc) and away you go.
It might not be that amazing that its just like it always was with regard to
the older client software, but no one I spoke to (reseller/ MS sales) knew
this....
