Entourage is Slow to Quit

Recently Entourage has been slow to quit on my dual 2 Gig dual G5. It
takes a full 1.5 minutes for Entourage to quit on this computer. On a
slower imac G5, Quit takes about 10 seconds. Microsoft User Data is on
a removable USB 2.0 drive and is mounted to the appropriate computer to
read email.

I have trashed the Entourage preferences i could find and repaired
permissions. Nothing so far has helped. I am about to reinstall Office
2004, unless someone has a better idea.

Thanks,

-Jim

My only comment is that memory operations like re-sorting of the address
list or changing views where large amounts of data are involved cause no
update or other indication of activity until the completion of the requested
operation.

Perhaps this is the cause of your problem too.

In my case (even with a G5 dual 2.0MHz CPU) when sorting a large set of
displayed names (like an address list of 1200 entries, sorted by company to,
as an example, a sort by category), the delay almost looks like a freeze.
Unless you look at Activity Monitor. Then it all makes sense.

So that's my recommendation to you. Check to see what's going on when you
quit with these tools before assuming the worst. I have not had the delay on
quit Entourage 2004 v11.1.0.

Checking the Activity Monitor, it says, "Entourage (Hung)" Only on the
G5 dual. On the G5 iMac and G4 Powerbook, no problem. All three
computers are using the same Microsoft User Data on a USB removable
drive.
