Entourage locking up when first opens

Each time Entourage opens (like when I first turn my computer on), it gets to the 'mail' page and then locks up - I get the 'spinning beach ball of death' and have to 'force quit'.
When I first saw the light and traded in my PC for an iMac almost 2 years ago, I had been having lots of trouble with Outlook so was glad to export all my contacts, etc, to Entourage. It has worked fine until recently and now doesn't work at all. I NEED MY CONTACTS!!!!
In addition, I want to get in there and change my email address. The one in there is not being used anymore, although I can access it online still. I want to enter my hotmail address as that is what I use for work now.

Hold down Shift key when launching.

Open your contact in the Entourage Address Book. You can set the default
email address under the Name & Email tab. Select the email you want to use
and click on the "make default" icon.

Yes, thanks very much! Holding the shift while this launches does allow Entourage to open and gives me access to my contacts, addresses and saved emails.

However, the mail send/receive, when it runs, still locks up the program. I tried changing the Mail Account Settings to Hotmail, then tried to run the mail, but got an error message. However, at least Entourage did not lock up, since I held down the shift. I clearly don't know what I am doing here and freely admit it!

Previously, my email account ([email protected]) automatically downloaded into Entourage, which allowed me to sort emails by client, etc. My previous settings under Account Settings were my email address and then POP server pop.att.yahoo.com for receiving mail and smtp.att.yahoo.com for sending mail.

What do I do now? Is there any way I can set up Hotmail as the default in Entourage?

If you can't help with this, I understand. Thanks for helping me access my Entourage again!

You have to find the bad message and delete it. Using your browser might be
the easiest way.

Turn off Preview Pane and check the server looking for the suspect message.

If you have POP accounts, you'd do it by using your Webmail account or use
Allow Online Access in the Options window of the account settings. Next,
select the server icon now appearing in the Folders List and turn off
Preview Pane.

If IMAP, Exchange or Hotmail just check your Inbox and folders affected with
Preview Pane turned off.

It's not advisable to give out your email on a newsgroup or forum in a form
that bots can read it.

Have you added your Hotmail account to Entourage? Once you add it, click on
make default button in the account window.
