Entourage Mail Sending Problem

Email Client: pop

Hi,

I operate a Gmail account (pop3) and have had no difficulty until recently. At this tiem I can download my email without a problem but sending email results in this error (3176) and the report:

Entourage cannot find the server. Verify the server information is entered correctly in the Account Settings, and that your DNS settings in the Network pane of System Preferences are correct.

Everything else is normal. I can access the internet etc. I have tried every "fix" suggested on teh internet but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas? Anyone?

What SMTP settings are you using for Gmail? Have you compared with the
settings listed at
<http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13286>?

Hi Adam,Thanks for the reply.
Yes my setting are exactly as they should be.

But I have had a breaktrhrough thanks to another thread on this forum! I have changed my DNS servers to those of www.opendns.com and much to my surprise... my email is now operating as before.

A big thanks to those involved in that other discussion for the suggestion.

Anyhow... it is working for now!
