Entourage new mail notification

Hello

I wonder if someone can help. Usually when I am not in entourage (I use
Entourage 2004 for Mac), but new mail arrives, a yellow 'envelope' shows up
on the Entourage icon in my dock.

That seems to have disappeared, even when new mail arrives. I've gone into
my notifications on preferences and the options are to get a subject
header/or subject header and preview pane. There seems to be no option to
get back the simple yellow envelope.

I don't know why it's disappeared but it's driving me nuts! Could anyone
please suggest or help?

Hi Jo,

as far as I'm aware, there is no preference to enable or disable the
envelope icon; it should always show up. However, the envelope will only
show if Entourage is not the active application. In other words, if you only
minimise the main window, Entourage will still be the active application, as
shown by the menu items in the menu bar on the top side of the screen, and
therefore not display the envelope.

The options you are referring to are not related to the envelope icon; they
are part of a new feature in Entourage 2004 which shows a small email
preview box in the lower right corner when a new message arrives. For that
preview box, the same rule as described above applies: it will only show up
if Entourage is not the active application.

I'd suggest you make sure first that Entourage is not active at the moment
when you receive new email messages. If the envelope still does not show in
that case, post back. Also, see if the preview box shows up, as that
behaviour seems to be related to the appearance of the envelope icon.
