Entourage not working

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: intel

I had to reinstall my Office Mac 2004 and found that I get this message when wanting to use my Entourage: This identity cannot be opened with this version of Entourage.

I just now also installed and update 11.4.1 and 11.4.2, the automatic updates were only sending me 11.3.5 so I didn't have the current one. I don't know if that matters.

But after the reinstall, I could not access the Entourage.

This means you need to update Entourage. There was an upgrade to the
database in an early updater. Upgrade to at least 11.3.5.

This Identity Cannot Be Opened With This Version of Entourage
I just now also installed and update 11.4.1 and 11.4.2, the automatic updates

that matters.

Many updates require previous updates. I have them listed here in order and
what is required. After installing from the CD, start with the combo updater
11.3.5, the remaining 7 all require the previous version. It's time for a
new combo. :)

Hi Diane-

Thanks for your reply. I did all of the updates, what did you mean by the "CD", do I have to put the original installation disc in again after all the updates?

I didn't do the updates in order, but they are all in (that I know of).

I am still getting this message and also get another message when doing anything else on the Office.Mac 2004--it says something about an error regarding framework library.

Thanks, Judy

Drag your current Office for Mac 2004 folder in Documents to the trash and
insert the install CD. This will install over your current install and
update any files that are missing. Be sure to restart after installing
before you run the Microsoft AutoUpdater. Restart after the updates.

Updates have to be applied in the correct order. On the page I sent you to
states 'required' to indicate the previous updater is needed.

regarding framework library.

A framework error normally means one or more components of Office have not
been updated correctly and are now out of synch with other bits.

Microsoft does not update each application every time an update is released.

Hi Judy -

I believe Diane's statement was intended to be interpreted more like
"whenever you have to install from the CD" - which you had already done:)

The framework error usually means that permissions need to be addressed on
your hard drive. Use the Apple Disk Utility program to run Repair Disk
Permissions on the drive & you should be good to go.
