Entourage/Office 2004 Test Drive User

I'm new to the Mac so please bear with me...I just got a new iMac and purchased Office for Mac 2008. My problem is that when I installed this Entourage still shows me as Office 2004 Test Drive User when I tested my email. I can find no traces of anything having to do with Office 2004 Test Drive which came pre-installed. I have set up a new Me contact. Even then, when emailing myself, it still shows Office 2004 Test Drive User. I've restarted the system. How do I get rid of that so it shows emails as coming from myself?

Hi Steven!

Welcome to the Mac!

To fix your problem, go into Entourage and select Tools --> Accounts...
Double-click your E-mail account and verify the appearance of your name
there.

Hope this helps!

It could be that the test drive wasn't properly removed. If you ever used
it, you must use "Remove Office" located in the Office --> Additional Tools
folder to remove it. It's possible you launched Entourage 2004 thinking it
was Entourage 2008.

If fixing the account name does not work, I advise using "Remove Office" and
remove both the test drive and 2008. It will not remove your email.
Entourage stores all of it's data in the Documents folder --> Microsoft User
Data folder.

So i am having this problem as well.

It started after i installed SP1 yesterday. I tried what the initial person suggested w/ Tools -> Accounts. No dice.

Uninstalling Office and purging my email store doesn't really seem like a 'solution', hehe. I even re-registered the product w/ Microsoft this morning to see if that would make a difference.

Any other ideas?

thanks

So i am having this problem as well.

When you jump into a thread saying you are having the problem as well, this
requires many of us to have to go back and search to see what was previously
mentioned. It's always best to start your own thread. I've seen people come
into a thread that ended months ago and the original messages have been
deleted from the news server. The Mactopia forums is just an interface to
forums and they evidently keep messages longer.

Obviously following the steps of the initial person when it didn't work for
them without trying the other solutions offered, isn't going to get you very
far. As I mentioned before, removing the test drive is difficult. See the
steps here:

For more on removing the test drive see:

Registering does nothing for Office for Mac. It is not like Activation. All
it does is put you on an email list.

Thanks Diane for the feedback.

It probably makes sense for me to post another thread because i believe this might be a bug introduced w/ SP1. I was not having the issue until that update.

thanks again

Here's how I solved that same problem: Open WORD and click on Word/
Preferences/User Information(Under Personal settings). Make sure your
name is shown and not "Office 2004 Test Drive User". "That was
Easy!"
