Entourage offline syncing error

We're running Entourage 2004, attaching to an Exchange 2000 server, and
are getting an error when coming off of offline mode. We have 660 items
that need to be synced, but it fails after about 30 seconds, with the error:

Unrecognized internal error: 0xfffff9bf.

I've tried everything to clear the errors to no avail. This error is also shown
in the exchange server logs. There is no indication anywhere as to what to
do with this... the error code on the message is 1025.

What kind of changes are you making while offline? What are the 660 items
that need to be sync'd? You might want to take a look at this article, it
looks like this can be caused by a damaged message in the mailbox:
