entourage outgoing mail

I am unable to send mail using entourage. I can receive mail without a problem.
I tried override ports and changed to 587, etc.
made sure outgoing mail server reads smtp.mac.com, etc.
I have received the following messages:
Error #3253
and
Error #3176
that says to check DNS settings in Network pane of system pref to see if setting are correct.
I have no idea what the settings in DNS should be.
I had computer in apple store and they were not familiar with entourage and were unable to help.

Can someone help, thanks

What version of Entourage and what update? What OS?

Is this a new problem after upgrading from an older version of Entourage to
Entourage 2008? Was the account imported, or did you create it new?

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

If you want to see exactly what is failing you can monitor the traffic
between Entourage and your IPS.

Test your network with tcpflow. See directions here:

Another application I ran into recently that does the same thing but has a
different interface.

EavesDrop....Let it capture some stuff then double-click any of the lines of
text in the main window to see more detail.
