Entourage Outgoing not finding smtp server

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Ok,

Yesterday worked, today it doesn't. No changes to anysettings and they all appear to be correct. If I send through a webmail program it finds the server, just not through Entourage anymore...very similar error msgs: error messages:
An operation on the server timed out. The server may be down, overloaded, or there may be too much net traffic.
Error: -50 (occasionally)
Error: -3259 (most of the times)

Is there a way to troubleshoot the connection in entourage?

Well couldn't it simply be a problem with the server itself?? That's
what it looks like to me.

Not really. An option is to try through another e-mail client I guess.

Not much on this error, but it's an indication that your settings are
incorrect.
