Entourage & PPT keep crashing

I was using a friend's copy of OFFICE 2004 to try it, I like it, so I
bought my own copy. That's when the problems started...after I called
Microsoft help and was told how to change to my new serial number. It
probably is just a coincidence, but my computer started having
problems, e.g., my Entourage database was corrupted along with some
other files. Therefore, I:
- reinstalled OS 10.4 (clean install; I did not wipe my disk and
start over) and the combined 10.4.8 update
- deleted OFFICE and reinstalled using my new disk and then updated
to current version

Currently these are some of the problems (I've sent a report to MS each
time):

- PowerPoint fails to open the first try - spinning ball & then the
error "PPT has encountered a problem and needs to close..." (I
downloaded the latest MS update yesterday but still have the problem)
- Entourage shuts down at least once per day, usually when trying to
open a large e-mail, e.g., NY Times daily newspaper

I bought & downloaded DiskWarrior a couple weeks ago and repaird Disk
Permissions; I'm waiting for the disk via mail to rebuild the
directory. I used my Tiger disk to repair Disk Permissions and Repair
Disk.

I'm using a PowerBook 1.33 with 1.5 GB Ram.

If by "deleted" you mean "dragged the Office folder to the Trash" that's
probably what caused the problem. Office is far too complex for only one
folder to house the myriad components scattered about your HD.

I think your best bet is to run the Remove Office utility you'll find in
Applications:Microsoft Office 2004:Additional Tools:Remove Office. Then
empty the Trash, reinstall Office plus the 11.3 update (use the updater from
the Mactopia web site), run Repair Disk Permissions & see if that resolves
the issue.
