Entourage problem with Kerberos

Dingo

Hi,

One of the features I was looking forward to with Entourage 2008 was the ability to authenticate the user via kerberos.

Unfortunately whenever I select the user profile eg. "(e-mail address removed)" in the Accounts I get an error dialogue stating that "this Exchange Server does not support Kerberos" and no mail appears.

This happens with Entourage 2008 in system 10.4.X and 10.5 and it driving me nuts.

The domain user can log in successfully and a ticket is created. Server share points are accessible via kerberos authentication and work fine. We don't have any problems with Outlook on our PC's. Seems that the problem is specific to Entourage.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Tom!

Very bizarre!

Let's take Entourage out of the mix and test whether it truly is
Entourage or your Exchange Server.

Safari is also Kerberized. That means you should be able to enter the
back-end server address (I don't think Kerberos can use a front-end OWA
address) and connect without the user having to authenticate again. The
address should be in the form of:

http://backendserver.domain.com/exchange

Also, check Directory Access (Tiger) or Directory Utility (Leopard) and
make sure you have the option "Allow authentication from any domain in
the forest" enabled if you have multiple domains in your network.

Hope this helps!
