Entourage receives the same message twice

I'm using Entourage 2004 in iMac. I receive a duplicate of every
message that comes into my machine. When I check for messages it rings
twice just like I have two Entourage programs running at the same time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it possible that you have two mail accounts checking the same server? For
example, if your main ISP account is checking a server, but you have another
mail forwarding accountthat was set up to check mail as well?

Let me try to explain that a little better...

If you main account is (e-mail address removed), but you also have an email address of
(e-mail address removed) that forwards mail to (e-mail address removed). You would normally collect
all the mail through mac.com, and use the (e-mail address removed) for sending only.
However, if, in setting up the (e-mail address removed) account you left the checkbox
checked to add the account to the send and receive all schedule AND either
have the account set to leave mail on server or have set the account up as
IMAP, then you will get mail twice, through both accounts.

'send only' accounts need no details filled in the 'receiving mail server'
boxes in the account settings and should be excluded from the 'send and
receive all' schedule.

Yes, I think you are right. When I checked Account Settings it shows
that I have the following:

POP Account (POP)
POP Account Mail Import (POP)

I don't think I need both of these do I?

Hello Barry,

Yes, they are serving the same email address. I'll delete the second
one and see what happens. I'll let you know the results.

Hello Barry,

That cured the problem. All is well now. Thank you very much. Good
luck.
