Entourage Settings to Read

It appears that Entourage doesn't have a setting that allows the "next
message" to be read, only "previous message" or "close window"

Is there somewhere else that "next message" will automatically come up
when a message is deleted?

Who is our advocate at Apple or Microsoft to get some of the same
*basics* in Entourage that are found in Outlook?

These newsgroups are read by MS, so it's as good a place as any.

However, if *I* was reading your suggestion, I'd have a couple of
questions, since I find don't have a clue what you mean.

First, what version of Entourage are you talking about?

Entourage 2004's Preferences/Read pane has a setting:

After deleting or filing an open message:

with a dropdown that has two choices: Open the next message, and Close
the message window.

Sounds to me like the first option is exactly what you're asking for.

However, I so rarely actually open a message (preferring to scan them in
preview mode), that that preference is essentially useless to me.

I'm wondering if you're talking about something else?

You should also be aware that there are keyboard shortcuts you can use to
navigate through messages. Here are a few you can try, from the help
article "Microsoft Entourage Keyboard Shortcuts":

OPTION+•+[ Delete the current message and display the previous message.

CTRL+OPTION+[ Delete the current message and display the previous unread
message.
