Entourage Slowness

Hello, we've got a user with a very sizable inbox (~12k items :\), and
he's got some problems. When he's opens e-mails in Entourage, he'll get
the spinning beachball for a pretty long time, anywhere up to a minute,
then it'll come back and let him go through the e-mail. Then when he
tries to open another e-mail, he'll get the spinning beachball again.

He's on a Dual 2GHz G5 w/ 1gig of ram.

Entourage is set to sync with our exchange server.

So far we've tried the following
Rebuilding the cash
Rebuilding the JET database w/ the db maintenance tool
Used Mac OSX to check disk integrity
uninstalled and re-installed every piece of software

Thoughts?

I've the same problem with my >100K mail folders, using IMAP. Entourage
take a long time when I select any of those folders, while other email
clients seem to work much faster. Is this a bug or I'm configuring
something in the wrong way ?

Move some (the majority!) of the mail to sub-folders instead of trying to
keep it all in one mail folder. This will dramatically speed things up.

Your user should explore the use of incoming mail rules and MLM entries to
sort things out as they arrive:

Well, those 100K emails are in a single folder (not in the default
INBOX) because they come from a single mail list, so I wanto to keep
all them together, otherwise, trying to search for something will be a
mess. Doing this with Outlook express, for example, makes a big
difference, which seems really readiculous for a paid product as
Entourage, don't you think so ?

Divide the archives up into subfolders of the main folder. That way, when
you initiate a search, you can specify he main folder and (optionally) all
subfolders.

You not only speed up the operation of entourage but you make your searches
a lot more flexible as well :)
