Entourage stopped receiving emails...

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I'm using Entourage 08 (Home and Student).

Entourage has suddenly stopped receiving emails from my webmail. I know this isn't due to my settings etc as it has been working fine up until now, and nothing has changes within my settings.

I can send emails no problem.

I have read some forums that seem to say 'clear your cache' and then give instruction on how to do so like...

'1. In Entourage 08, right-click on Inbox. Select Folder Properties at the bottom of the options.' etc etc.

But I don't seem to be able to find 'Folder Properties' when I right click on the inbox, so I can't follow through with the instructions on how to solve this issue. Is it due to me using Home and Student??? Can any one help with this problem in terms of getting my emails.

PLEASE!!!!

You neglected to say what kind of account this is, but I'm going to
assume IMAP.

These instructions are for an Exchange account - IMAP accounts don't
typically have the same problem. That said, the IMAP quasi-equivalent is
"Repair Message List."

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Sorry it is a POP account... do you know the solution for a POP account?

Thanks.

Well that's a whole 'nother animal.

What process do you use to check email? Do you see anything in the
Progress window? How do you know you are not receiving emails?

POP downloads what's there, or it generates an error. There's really no
such thing as a POP account not downloading waiting email. You may need
to check with your provider to see if the settings have changed.

I have already checked with my provider and nothing has changes.

I know I am getting emails into my account as I can check into my webmail direct through my provider.

When Outlook tries to do its usual mail receive, the progress bar at the bottom right roles for a while then I get an error sign.

I know that I (or anyone else) have not changed my Entourage or Webhost settings. Or that I do not have any connection or modem problems etc etc etc. I'm not an Entourage pro but I Know this is an Entourage problem.

It is actually working fine now, its just started to work again, so I can't read you any of the error messages. But I know that tomorrow or the day after it will do it to me again.

Don't worry if you can't help. But thanks anyway.

Then you'll need to talk to your provider. An intermittent problem is
not an Entourage issue.
