Hi,

I manage a school of 220 macs. After updating to 10.5.8 some of the macs are unable to access their mail accounts. The error I am getting is:

An Error occured while launching.
The "Entourage Temp" folder could not be found. It is likely that you have a file with the same name or an alias that doesn't point to a folder.

I have run Auto Update to ensure that I am on the latest version and have removed the Microsoft User Data folder. However the problem remains.
Any Ideas???

AutoUpdate wouldn't install this folder.

Check the permissions on the Microsoft User Data folder and make sure they
are set correctly.

Check permissions using Get Info.

My Microsoft User Data folder and all enclosing folders and files:

Owner: diane (shows locked if you need to change click on the lock, change
then lock)
Access: Read & Write
Group: diane
Access: Read only
Other: Read only

The database file.
Name - Privilege:
your user name Read & Write
Staff Read Only
everyone Read Only

Hi Diane,

Thanks for the suggestion. I have compared the permissions to other users and they are correct. I even went so far as backing up the Microsoft User Data folder, deleting it and allowing a new folder be created on next launch. The error still persists :-(

Testing in a new User will quickly tell you if the problem is system wide or
if it¹s your User¹s folder that contains the problem.

I've seen some strange things get 'stuck' in Leopard and Snow Leopard. If
it's at the system level, I'm not sure if the usual of running the Apple
combo will help. It could take an "Archive & Install" or reinstall of Snow
Leopard. (Snow Leopard will install over itself like a combo)

It's very odd! The account is a network user account.
I have logged into the iMac as the local admin user and Entourage works fine.
I have logged into the iMac with my network user account and Entourage works fine.
Here's the strange one: I have logged into the users account on a different iMac and Entourage works fine!!!
I've foramtted and reinstalled the OS and Office and with that users account the problem persists!!!
