entourage unexpectedly quitting after start up

L

Lyn

For the past 2 days, Entourage's splash screen starts, then it opens and
looks like its trying to download my email, then quits. I get the
message "Entourage has unexpectedly quit"...I've rebuilt the database
several times, using the advanced feature, and it still doesn't open.

Running Entourage X (can't get it open to read which version it is, but it
for OS X).

My entourage database is very large - about 1.5 g - I have not installed
any new fonts. I have also noticed that word is slower to start up than
usual. Two weeks ago I installed OS 10.2.8, with no problems,
apparently. I'm running a dual processor G4 450 with 1.5g of ram.
Help please - I'm out of communication with critical clients. Thanks
very much. Lyn

I've read several posts about similar issues in the apst few days. In
every case, they had corrupted mail in their mailbox (usually spam or
viruses) that made Entourage crash when the app was attempting to
retreive mail. If you have the possibility to also check your mail
through webmail, you should connect through webmail and delete all spam
from there and empty the trash. Hopefully, Entourage will then be able
to get your mail without crashing.

I had the same problem for two days. Entourage would shut down after
checking for new mail.
I went into my web mailbox (Earthlink) and deleted all of the messages
there (mail and trash).
Entourage is working fine now.
Hope it's that simple for everyone else!

THen it might be one of the other e-mails you have :-\ If you can
"affrod" to delete the other mails as well, it would probably let you
sync again :-|

Or, download the other mail into another e-mail program like Apple Mail,
which likely won't crash in this case (you'll need to set up your account
there). Then, drag the e-mail messages from the Apple Mail message list to
the Desktop, and then drag them onto the Inbox folder in the Entourage
Folder List to import them. Then you should be good to go.

If that doesn't work, it's possible that there's a corrupt outgoing message.
Check your Outbox and delete anything you find. Does that help?
