Entourage v.X Re-install of Entourage into new OS X System

Recently I reinstalled Mac OS X 10.2.6 in my G4/500/256 desktop
computer. Upon trying to install the Entourage "Microsoft User Data"
folder into the ~/User/Document folder yielded an error message. So, a
previous post and follow up suggestion to simply run the advanced
Entourage database rebuild was tried. Unfortunately, after performing
the advanced requild another couple of error messages come up:
1- Entourage cannot access you data. To attempt to fix the problem,
rebuild the database.
Then trying to rebuild for a second time (the first time the rebuild
seemed to run successfully), the second error message came up:
2- Rebuilding Failed. A read/write error has occurred (-40).

So, I am still in need of help trying to get my e-mail back into
operation. Please if you will, can you suggestion something else?
Can I take the Entourage v.X Microsoft Users Folder and move it back to
OS 9 and Entourager 2.1? If so, then I can import from 2001 to v.X
maybe?
Thanks... Please help if you can.

You cannot move the User's folder to OS 9.

You were not clear if you just upgraded to Office X. You have to import your
data from Office 2001 into Entourage X. You cannot just move the folder into
the Microsoft User Data folder.

Let Entourage create it's own Microsoft User Data folder. Check the
permissions set on this folder. Now compare to the info you moved over. Make
necessary changes if needed.

=========================

Run Repair Permissions after any software update from Apple and for other
software updates that uses an installer.

To use: open Disk Utility in your Applications/Utility folder.

Click on the First Aid tab and select Repair Permissions
Click on the icon for your boot volume.
Click the repair permissions button.

Don't run from CD as updates have a newer version of Repair Permissions.

Run Repair Permissions from the volume being repaired. Disk Utility uses
receipt files from the disk on which it is running (not necessarily the same
as the disk it is "repairing") in order to set the "correct" permissions. If
you run Disk Utility from a CD, it will use the receipt files on the CD (if
any) to determine what the "correct" permissions should be. This could mean
incorrect "repairs."

In short: Disk First Aid should always be run from CD (or by using fsck at
startup in single-user mode), whereas Repair Permissions should always be
run from the volume being repaired. The exception to the latter being if a
permissions problem is preventing startup. In that case, boot off of the CD
and run Repair Permissions, but if doing so, allows you to boot up again,
make sure you re-run Repair Permissions from your OS X volume afterwards.
