Entourage version Error

B

Bill

I am operating Mac OS X Tiger and have Microsoft Office 2004 installed.
I have several email accounts created and have been working fine for
quite awhile. I was attempting to install an update to Entourage and
I got the 'spinning' beachball, and nothing was happening, so I had to
reboot. Now, whenever I try to open Entourage 2004 and any of my
previos accounts, I get the error messge;

"This identity cannot be opened with the version of Entourage". What
has happened??? Anyone ever see this before??

That message usually means that an identity created (or updated) by a recent
version of entourage is being accessed by an older version of entourage.

After your installation problems, did you re-install office at all?

The solution is to re-apply all the office updates. They can be downloaded
from the Mactopia web site.

Thanks Barry for your reply..

Yes, I have reloaded Microsoft Office 2004. When I attempt to upload
the latest update from MacTopia, I think it's 11.2.5, I get to the
screen that says "Loading 319 Items". But it just sits there forever
with the spinning beachball and nothing happens. I have waited at this
poing at least once overnight and came back in the morning to the same
message. I have to 'Force Quit" install in order to continue.

My version of Entourage 11.0 seems not to want to update to newer
versions????

Thanks,

When you tried to reload the previous version, did you just trash the
Microsoft Office folder and drag th enew one in, or did you use the removal
tool?

You need to run the removal tool (at /Applications/Microsoft Office
2004/Additional Tools/Remove Office/Remove Office) to remove all the support
files as well as the main application folder. This will not remove your data
from the MUD folder - this will still be available when you rte-install
office.

Barry.

Thanks again.... The first time I just 'trashed' the 2004 Office
Folder. After receiving your response I then used the Remove Tool from
the Office folder. This seemed to work ok, then I installed Office
2004 once again from the CD. The Office 2004 version I current have is
11.0.

I tried uploading the 11.2.5 Update and I got the error message;

"The installer could not locate the correct version of the software
required to install this update. See the Read Me file included with
this installer to determine if your software meets the requirements for
this update." What version do I need????

I read the "Read Me" file and I statisfy all the requirements.

I have also tried to install Service Pack 11.1 and 11.2 and neither one
will update my 11.0 version.

Still stumped!!!
