Entourage will not open

I use Macintosh Tiger, or Mac OSX 10.4.8. I use Microsoft Office 2004
for Mac. I somehow lost the icon of Entourage on the Dock while I was
trying to reinstall a Quicken icon (that I trashed because it had a
shadowed question mark over it). I lost the Entourage icon - it seemed
like it went somewhere else, like under the Dock or inside another
icon. When I would double-click the application of Entourage to open
it, the Entourage icon would appear briefly like from behind the Dock
but then disappear under the Dock but the program would not open. I
keep the Dock on the right, moved the Dock to the bottom to see if I
could find the Entourage icon underneath it but it didn't appear
anywhere or come out from hiding.

I then reinstalled Entourage from the original Microsoft Office disk
and the Entourage icon is now appearing in the Dock. Entourage still
will not open. It will just bounce as if it does when a program
activates, but the program will not actually open. No matter where I
try to open Entourage from, it won't operate.

What to do? How do I get it the program to work again? Please, please
HELP!

You can keep an alias of Entourage on your desktop, but the original
application needs to remain in the Office 2004 folder. See below for dock
info.

Try holding down the shift key during launch to prevent startup schedules
from firing.

Check for duplicate daemons. In System Preferences --> Startup Items, look
for multiple Microsoft Database daemons. If you see more than one Microsoft
Database daemon delete them all and let Entourage recreate a new one.

Use "Remove Office" to uninstall then install from the Office 2004 CD.
Update then launch Entourage.

Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.0 Update

<http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx>

* To add an item, drag its icon from a Finder window to the Dock. Put
application icons to the left of (or above) the line in the Dock, and all
other icons to the right of (or below) the line.
* To arrange items in the Dock, drag them into the order you prefer.
* To remove an icon from the Dock, drag it out of the Dock.

You can also add an application icon to the Dock by opening the application,
then placing the pointer over its icon in the Dock, pressing the mouse
button until a pop-up menu appears, and choosing Keep in Dock.
