Entourage will not send message to more than 50 email addresses

Greetings,

I am not able to send an email to more than approximately 50 individual
email addresses. When I try to send an email to more than 50 email
addresses, an "Error Description" window appears after I hit the
"Send Now" icon that provides a "Too many recipients" message.
When I reduce the number of email recipients to 50 or less, then the
email message is sent without a problem. I have searched "Help" and
"Preference" resources, and I cannot find a way to fix this. I am
using Mac OS X 10.3.9, and Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac.

While the description of the "Error" is always the same (i.e.,
"Error: 4.5.3 Too many recipients", I have received two different
"Explanations" in the "Error Description" window:

Error Description Window Explanation 1:
Error: 4.5.3 Too many recipients
Explanation: Cannot send mal. The SMPT server does not recognize any
of the authentication methods supported by Entourage. Try changing the
SMTP authentication options in Account settings or contact your network
administrator.
Error: -17092

Error Description Window Explanation 2:
Error: 4.5.3 Too many recipients
Explanation: Mail could not be sent
Error: -17099

Hi,

Entourage imposes no limit on the number of recipients; however, most ISPs
do, to prevent their servers from being used to send spam messages. Either
send the same message a couple of times, to less than 50 recipients each
time, or use Paul Berkowitz's free Split Recipients X script, which will
automatically create multiple messages for which you can then specify the
number of recipients (less than 50, of course).

Hi,

That's not Entourage, which doesn't care. Most ISPs have a limit on
addresses, to prevent people using their system for spamming. Sounds like
your ISP's limit is 50.

There's a handy-dandy free Split Recipients script by Paul Berkowitz to help
you get around this.
