Entourage won't forward attachments

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: Exchange I have a user that is no longer able to forward attachments. When she clicks Forward on a message that has attachments the message is preserved but the attachments are lost. I know she could use "Forward as Attachment" but then the person on the receiving end of the message has to open the original message to get to the attachment. These are just normal files in the attachments, jpeg's, pdf's ect.

Also, the machine is running fully updated 13.0.4 entourage EWS connecting to Exchange 2010.

Sorry, but "Forward as Attachment" is the only option.

Diane, this is a new problem, it used to work just fine and we have other Entourage 08 users that have no problem with this in our office. The complaints to me seem to have started right about the time the latest Office patch was installed last week.

Maybe I'm not getting the issue. Do this test.

1) drag a couple of messages to the desktop as examples
2) create a new User.
3) enter one account for the test. Be sure you select to leave on server.
4) drag in the test messages and see if they will send.

also can you verify that this file is 12.2.4?

"/Applications/Microsoft Office
2008/Office/MicrosoftComponentPlugin.framework"

Let me know the results.

Diane,

I was able to do a little more playing around and have discovered a few things. First the componentplugin.framework is v 12.2.4. Also, the forwarding issue gets a bit stranger. It will not forward the attachments of a message it the attachments are pdf file. It seems to work fine for nearly all other file types, except for pdfs, jpgs, tifs. Could this have something to do with preview?

There is a known problem with jpgs. Entourage 2008 will not show jpgs
on the message if they are over 400kb.

Do you have LittleSnitch installed? If so, update to the latest version.
It specifically had problems with corrupting attachments in Entourage.
The latest version fixes that.

My 40+ users are also experiencing this issue with 13.0.4 they can't forward jpegs or pdfs (gifs are untested) smaller then around 400kb.

I can not roll back to 12.x because we need EWS for Exchange 2010 support.
We do not have little snitch installed.

This is a known bug for .jpgs.

Entourage 2008 will not show jpgs in the message if they are over 400kb.

We are also seeing this issue for files UNDER 400kb. Any reason why that might be happening?

Just wanted to report back that we have upgraded since my original post to 13.0.4 but that hasn't helped the forwarding issue. Entourage still will not forward PDFs, JPEGs, and GIFs of any size.

Did you see my reply on setting on server in this thread?

Entourage EWS Attachment Limits

We've been wrestling through an Entourage attachment-size issue that's been
maddening. Today we finally got to work with Microsoft's Product Support
Services technical lead. He and his colleague were helpful, and we got
through it, but it took more than an hour! It was about as straight-forward
as San Francisco's Lombard Street, but here's what we learned:

* Entourage file attachment limitations are managed by the Exchange 2007
server in the EWS folder.
* There's no easy-to-use checkbox to say someone has no limitation on
attachment file size.
* Assuming that when you don't impose an attachment size limitation on a
user-- presumably because you don't want there to be a limitation on their
attachment sizes-- is enough won't work. Exchange applies its default
limitation of 5mb!
* When setting a higher limit to allow someone to send attachments
larger than 5mb, don't base the new limit on the actual size of the
attachment files. Mime will expand attachments about 1/3 larger than their
original file size. But don't base the new limit on that size either,
because Exchange expands the attachments even larger! Set the limit to about
double the original attachments' file size.

On forwarding the mails on Entourage 13.0.4, the image and movie files will b
missing. this happens only if the exchange server is 2010... I am not seein
this issue with exchange 2007.

I think this is a bug with Entourage and does not related to the size of th
message as misguided in the some of the replies.

Also Entourage 13.0.4 fails sending mails when it is encoded but it work
perfectly fine with 12.2.4.

I just had this exact same problem happen to me today. I figured out the solution was my Database was to large. Follow the step below and see if this works.

1. Delete all old emails and extra folders
2. Empty deleted folder including subfolders
3. Close Entourage
4. Holding alt/option open Entourage
5. Utility window opens, select Rebuild database
6. Reopen Entourage
6. Trying forwarding a message with an attachment.
