Entourage won't launch after 12.2.0 Update

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

The subject pretty much says it al. Working fine before the update; after the update I only get "The application has unexpectedly quit" dialog. I rebuilt the database (option-key on start) but still not launching.

SO, I HAVE NO MAIL!!

This is a student version, pure install and all previous updates applied.

There is another string that has a possible answer to this. I never removed Entourage 2004, and was fortunate enough to at least keep account access current.

Okay, here's the issue and the resolution according to MS escalated tech support:

Issue: update install is looking for a symbol file it can't find.

Fix: completely uninstall Office including all associated library files (ok to put identity files on desktop so they can be restored). Then do a fresh install and go through all updates.

A bit of work, but that fixes it.
